Monocle listed Melbourne interior design firm Hecker Guthrie in their highly coveted 2013 Design Directory and I was sent to to shoot their very slick HQ to illustrate the story. I love this building, it's a little slice of Tokyo in the Richmond backstreets.
Some new work shot in Dubai for my recent exhibition as part of the Independent Photography Festival. Big big thanks to Joe Miranda for asking me to be involved. It was an honor and a thrill.
I combined this work with some existing photos shot in Queensland.
GOLD is a series of quiet observations of two noisy metropoles. Surfers Paradise and Dubai are at once displayed as booming, shiny, vast and tacky, framed by beige, sun-bleached suburbs.
Greatly removed from Fennessy's familiar world – and especially that of Tasmanian upbringing – this work documents the realities and contradictions of two unlikely oases that are loathed by most but a mecca to many.
I worked with Interbrand and a very serious data projector to shoot the cover of the MTC Season 14 brochure cover. Moody!
The incredible Harry Seidler designed Gissing House shot in Sydney for The Design Files.
Melbourne's best baker Daniel Chirico, shot in his Carlton bakery for Monocle magazine
It worked with the very awesome and famous Beci Orpin to create this peice for charity exhibition True Self.
A few shots from a visit to Norfolk Island late last year for Feast Magazine. It's a place with an interesting settlement and convict history, as well as a few recent twists and turns that add to the mystery of the place.
Thanks to Mark from the Melbourne Magazine for sending me to the outskirts of Melbourne to shoot this story about crime scene clean up company Bio Clean. Peter, the owner, was eager to share the story of the time he was called to Barwon Prison to clean up after the murder of famed gangland figure Carl Williams. It was gruesome to say the least.
I've never really been one to set career goals but at the start of this year I resolved that my aim for 2013 was to shoot an international travel story. By February I got a call from Feast Magazine to head to The Phillipines. Note to self: Set more career goals! By the end of February I had also been booked to shoot the E&O Express story and another overseas piece that is yet to be publihed.
I had so much fun shooting this story. Many many thanks to Dan and the team at Feast.
Monocle included Ryan Ward's United Measures in its annual design directory and I was lucky enough to be sent along to document his practice. As a long time admirer of Ryan's work it was such a pleasure to meet him and photograph his workspace. A small selection of images appeared in the May issue of the magazine.
