Last week I was sent to the Bay of Fires on Tassie’s east coast to document the annual Design Island workshop held by Arts Tasmania.
Apparently it’s the the worlds ‘hottest’ travel destination, so as you can imagine it was a tough gig!

We stayed at the very swanky Bay of Fires Lodge. This shot was taken at night from the balcony, lit only by the moon. The light you can see on the horizon is the Eddystone Point lighthouse.

The workshop was convened by Kiwi furniture designer David Trubridge. This portrait is going to be published in the next issue of Dumbo Feather(!)
Sixteen designers from around Australia were selected to attend and no doubt left the place feeling inspired and refreshed.

I was shooting for Arts Tasmania but some pics will also appear in an upcoming issue of Artichoke magazine (!!)
Design Island is a ten-day program of exhibitions, talks, showcases and workshops held annually around the state. I really enjoy shooting these type of events - I was also the official photographer for MONA FOMA and The Taste Festival over summer.
