An image from my “Portraits of Invisible People” series has been chosen as a finalist in the Head On Portrait Prize. I'm not allowed to post it until the winner is announced at the finalists exhibition opening at the Australian Centre for Photography on May 5. Suspense!
In the meantime, here's another pic from the series that I rediscovered recently. There's more in the “commisioned” section of my website.

About the prize:
“Head On is the nation's major innovative showcase for Australian portrait photography, reflecting a vibrant, diverse cross-section of new and traditional photographic practices.
The show's main selection criteria are the quality and impact of the image, rather than the celebrity of the photographer or subject. As a result Head On is regarded by the arts community and reviewers as the most critically important photographic portrait prize in the country.”

A visit to the Tasmanian Anime Convention provided me with some intersting charachters for my Long Way From Home series. I'm really intersted in the relationship between the costumes and locations of conventions like these. To be continued.

I had the pleasure of shooting the Finders Keepers Melbourne market. Lots of crafty goodies and plenty stuff with birds on it.
Heaps more pics on the Finders Keepers facebook page. Thanks to Sarah and Brooke!

One of the more absurd pics from a recent shoot with Tiger Choir. Scuba divers in the bush at night.
They just finished touring with brilliant US band Deerhunter and also played the highly respected Campus A Low Hum festival in New Zealand. Big things await!

What is there to say about Tim Rogers?
After much anticipation MONA has opened. I’ve just spent a pretty amazing weekend documenting all the opening festivities. I’m not really sure how to describe the place so for now I’ll let the photos do the talking. You must come and see for yourself!

The VIP opening party was suitably lavish, with free flowing drinks, caviar by the tin and amazing table decorations.

Thanks to Brooke, Leigh, Delia and Brian.

Nick Cave and his beardy Grindermen dropped a bomb on Hobart last night. Cave was like a psychotic bullfighter. It was awesome.
MONA FOMA kicked off with a blast on Friday night and kept up a manic pace for the whole weekend - and there’s still a week to go (including Grinderman on Wednesday!).
I was running round like a madman documenting the festival for the folks at MONA . Hobart is buzzing in anticipation of the grand opening of the museum and gallery this Friday.
Here’s a taste of some of the music from the opening days featuring Speak Percussion, The Scientists of Modern Music, Joseph Nolan, Mickelangelo & The Black Sea Gentlemen, BalletLab, Philip Glass, Kyu, Amanda Palmer and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. There’s heaps of other art, food and wine events on also.
