A couple of my shots of furniture designer David Trubridge are in the current issue of Dumbo Feather. These were taken while I was at Bay of Fires earlier in the year. (See the original pics here.) I love what they’ve done with the opening pic.
A Fine Line used this shot of The Scandal on the cover of their winter issue.

The mag was originally designed by Hammer & Tong, but I’ve got a feeling they’re not doing it anymore which is a pity because it was looking pretty slick. I’m not really happy with the crop or the print quality of this one (see the original here)
I’m a bit excited about this profile I got over at featureshoot.com

It’s a relatively new photo blog that “showcases work from up-and-coming photographers alongside work from established photographers who have completed a project or whose work has taken on a new direction.”
It’s one of my favourite sites and a great resource for finding inspiring work by photographers around the world.
I also got a few pics from a series I shot in Shanghai posted at lost at e minor, which is a cool site full of creative bits and pieces.
Well it’s not quite in the league of Ben Baker and the 20 magazine covers he got out of one shoot with Obama, but it was cool to see my pic of Tasmanian Premier David Bartlett on the front of Alumni magazine.

I was determined to take him out of his office so while the journalist was doing the interview I did a bit of a recce with the security guy and we found our way onto the roof.

Initially I thought it would be cool to shoot him on white seamless, ala Platon’s famous politician portraits, and although that didn’t happen in the end I was happy to get this extra shot indoors which is easily my favourite of the shoot.
I think it adds nicely to this shot I took of former Premier Paul Lennon a few years ago.
Last week I was sent to the Bay of Fires on Tassie’s east coast to document the annual Design Island workshop held by Arts Tasmania.
Apparently it’s the the worlds ‘hottest’ travel destination, so as you can imagine it was a tough gig!

We stayed at the very swanky Bay of Fires Lodge. This shot was taken at night from the balcony, lit only by the moon. The light you can see on the horizon is the Eddystone Point lighthouse.

The workshop was convened by Kiwi furniture designer David Trubridge. This portrait is going to be published in the next issue of Dumbo Feather(!)
Sixteen designers from around Australia were selected to attend and no doubt left the place feeling inspired and refreshed.

I was shooting for Arts Tasmania but some pics will also appear in an upcoming issue of Artichoke magazine (!!)
Design Island is a ten-day program of exhibitions, talks, showcases and workshops held annually around the state. I really enjoy shooting these type of events - I was also the official photographer for MONA FOMA and The Taste Festival over summer.
